We’re an independent publisher covering retirement plans for teachers, professors and nonprofit employees — the people TIAA was originally built to serve.
Our independence, in plain terms
- We are not employees, agents, or partners of TIAA, Fidelity, Vanguard, Empower, or any provider we cover.
- We do not receive commissions or referral fees from these providers.
- We do not sell financial products and we do not give personalized financial advice.
- Everything we publish is based on independent analysis, hands-on testing of the platform, public documentation, and the real experiences educators share.
If we ever earn revenue (for example, from contextual advertising), we’ll disclose it clearly. What we will never do is let a payment change our verdict.
How we research
We read the actual contract documents and disclosures, we test account interfaces ourselves, and we cross-check claims against independent advisors and educator communities. Where current figures (rates, fees) can change, we say so and point you to verify your own plan.
What we are not
